Management Team

Tessa Olson, MBA
Chief Executive Officer | Co-Founder, COVE Animal Health
Tessa Olson is the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of COVE Animal Health, where she leads a growing network of veterinary hospitals united by a singular belief: veterinary medicine works best when veterinarians lead.
With a background in hospital operations, Tessa blends strategic growth expertise and operational excellence with a deeply personal commitment to the veterinary profession. Tessa started at Pieper Veterinary, one of the founding regions in 2017 and has driven transformative growth —multi-state acquisitions across general practice, emergency care, and specialty medicine, building de novo facilities and opening new services within existing hospital networks. Under her leadership, Pieper Veterinary has expanded across the northeast and laid the foundation for COVE: a collaborative, veterinarian-led ecosystem of high-performing hospitals.
Tessa leads the organization in close partnership with her brother, Dr. Ben Olson, DACVIM, a board-certified neurologist who serves as COVE’s Chief Medical Officer. Together, they have built a distinctive leadership model rooted in mutual respect for medical and operational excellence. Their sibling partnership mirrors the broader COVE philosophy — one where collaboration between clinical and business leadership drives better outcomes for patients, teams, and hospitals alike.
Rooted in the legacy of her family — who purchased the original Pieper practice in the 1980s and built it into a hub-and-spoke model — Tessa’s vision for COVE is equal parts personal and professional. She views her role as both steward and strategist: protecting what makes each hospital unique while equipping it to thrive at scale.
